There’s a lot going on this month. Our recent Introduction to Electronics/Arcade repair class was a huge success, and we are planning an informal follow-up for club members where we follow-through on some of the repairs, and re-cap the monitors on several games we repaired during the original class.
As a result of the class, we’ve got several classic arcade games operational and available to play in the PinChurch, including Q*bert and Battle Zone!
Our next project involves setting up a state-of-the-art video and audio production workstation! Our group will begin doing video productions of classes and the resources will be made available to core members for personal projects. We’ve already got the hardware and software in place. A super-fast quad-core workstation with oodles of memory and drive space, and the latest fully-licensed version of Adobe CS6, Premier, Photoshop, Illustrator, and everything needed to crank out professional work!
We will immediately begin having informal gatherings as we teach ourselves the basics of video editing with Adobe Premier. We will soon be having some formal classes but in the interim having fun with footage and practicing editing and related processes.
We are also setting up a full-blown Pro Tools rig. Stay tuned for more!
On any given day we are also engaging in a wide variety of repair/maker projects from repairing pinball and arcade machines, to fabricating parts, building out the workspaces and more. There’s always something fun and informative going on!
Also, we will be running another IFPA-sanctioned pinball tournament, this time at the public venue, Barcadia on Tchopatoulas in downtown New Orleans on July 27th.
